All the way through the end of November, the Streets Division picks up buckthorn from Apple Valley residents every Tuesday of each week.
Residents are required to stack the buckthorn parallel to the curb on the boulevard to help facilitate easy pickup. Residents are also instructed on proper stump treatments to kill buckthorn root systems and prevent re-sprouting.
The program is a concerted effort by the city to eradicate invasive buckthorn from Apple Valley.
